Dr. Derek Kroll was born and raised in the greater Houston area and is happy to return to the area to provide quality Neurosurgical care to those in need. Dr. Kroll completed his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology at Texas State University before receiving his master’s degree in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of North Texas.
Dr. Kroll then attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He then moved to Illinois to complete his internship and Neurosurgical residency within the Advocate Health system, which allowed him the unique opportunity to work in one of the busiest trauma centers in Chicago. His pediatric Neurosurgery rotations were completed at the University of Colorado Children’s Hospital. After finishing residency, Dr. Kroll sought specialty training in the treatment of brain and spine tumors and completed a Fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida. Though Neurosurgical Oncology will be a dedicated component of his practice, he aims to be a complete general neurosurgeon. “Whether it is something as minor as a kyphoplasty or carpal tunnel, or as common as a spine decompression or fusion, or as complex as an intricate brain tumor…I genuinely love what I do.”
Dr. Kroll is thrilled to be back in the great state of Texas. Outside of medicine, he enjoys the outdoors, trail running, being on the water, historic military literature, playing the guitar and considers himself an amateur gunsmith. If you have any questions or would like to know if his services may be right for you, please call the office at (281) 815-2486.
